Hybrid vehicles achieving a 45 MPG rating or higher will be permitted to use the Long Island Expressway’s HOV lanes regardless of the number of passengers. *Vehicles must obtain a pass from the DMV to qualify for the incentive*
Hybrid Free Parking in Westchester:
Hybrid will be permitted to park free at 2 commuter lots in Westchester.
Hybrid Free Parking and Beach Access in Huntington:
Hybrid owners that have obtained their “Keep Huntington Green” window stickers are entitled to park for free at town meters, free parking in the town’s 4 Long Island Rail Road Stations and free access to all Huntington Beaches. *Vehicles remain subject to time restrictions*
Local Authority for Hybrid Incentives *bill*:
A 1513 would exempt Hybrid vehicles in Suffolk County from sales tax.
Hybrid HOV Exemption*bill*:
A 1933/S 1234 would allow Hybrids to use HOV lanes regardless of number of passengers.
Free Hybrid Parking *bill*:
A 3744 would provide free parking to Hybrid vehicles.
Hybrid Tax Credit *bill*:
A 4281 would provide a tax credit of up to $4000 for the purchase of a hybrid vehicle. Credit based on fuel efficiency compared to a motorized vehicle in the same and next lower class.
Free Admission to State Parks & Recreational Facilities *bill*:
S 3197 qualified Hybrid vehicles would be admitted to park for free at state parks and recreational facilities.
Hybrid Sales Tax Exemption *bill*:
A 457/S 222 Hybrid vehicles would be exempt from the sales and compensating taxes.
Nassau Country Sales Tax Break and Vehicle Use Fee Waiver *bill*:
Would provide a tax break on the cost of the (2006-2007) Hybrids’ engine. In addition Hybrid owners will be exempt from the $15 special motor vehicle registration fee.
